When they raised subscription fees at the start of the year, Netflix bosses promised users that the extra revenue would go towards producing major new shows—and so far, the platform has certainly lived-up to that promise in the first six months of 2025.
Netflix is filled with the arrival of acclaimed dramas, including Harlan Coben's Missing You, Stephen Graham's Adolescence and of course, the much-anticipated second and third series of the South Korean sensation Squid Game.
Whilst we wait for the next instalments of popular titles like Love Is Blind: UK, Selling Sunset, Wednesday and Stranger Things, Netflix have unveiled some viewing figures for the first six months of the year, revealing over 95 billions hours of viewings.
Although a lot of popular series come from the UK, such as Black Mirror, Dept. Q and Adolescence, interestingly, more than one-third of all viewing came from non-English language titles, and 10 of the 25 most-watched series in the first half of the year were non-English.
