Viewers were first introduced to Grace Law and Ashley Dommett during the second episode of the 2025 series of Married At First Sight UK, and it's safe to say their relationship certainly got fans talking from the very moment they met!

Despite endless arguments and cringeworthy moments over the last few weeks, Grace and Ashley somehow remained in the experiment right up until the final commitment ceremony, but viewers were left confused when they didn't appear.

Why were Grace and Ashley not at the final commitment ceremony?

Following a difficult week for the pair, Grace and Ashley were visibly absent during the final commitment ceremony, which aired on Tuesday 4th November.

Expert Mel Schilling said at the beginning of the episode: "It's been incredible to see all your journeys unfold with your time with us. This is the last time that you get to bring your marriage to the couch and share with us where you're at at this pivotal stage in the experiment and make that final decision on whether to stay or leave.

"Before we begin, obviously you'll all notice that Grace and Ashley are not with us today, they've had a rocky couple of weeks and as a result, felt they needed more time to reflect and they won't be joining us today."

Ashley and Grace

Have they left the show?

During the episode on Wednesday 5th November, Grace and Ashley sat down for individual chats with the experts, whilst the other couples enjoyed their final dates.

Expert Mel Schilling told viewers: "As they both opted not to attend the final commitment ceremony, we have invited Grace and Ashley to meet us individually to explore any issues they feel were not resolved, and to get some sort of closure from the experiment."

Speaking about why she didn't attend the final CC, Grace said: "Most of the time at the commitment ceremonies, whenever I tried to figure out what was happening, I felt like Ash was quick to deflect. I lost my voice almost, I just didn't feel confident anymore in what I was saying."

Ash said: "I feel like even from the wedding day, Grace had me pegged as this misogynistic, not a great guy, I was just thinking just give me a bit of time with her, I know who I am, I know I'll treat her like a princess anyway, It will come round.

"But then it started to come round and then it would go back. I just felt like there's not much more I can do here to make her see who I am. When I started pulling back, she changed. It went from me trying to prove I am a good person to her trying to paint me as a bad one. It felt like it just wasn't a great place for me. I felt like I had to prove to Grace."

After Grace and Ash detailed certain incidents that occurred from both sides and spoke about crossed boundaries, including when Ash 'picked a lock' when she was in the bathroom.

Charlene Douglas told Ash: “I think what’s fair to say is that communication for you two was going in different directions.

“If a partner is saying to you they don’t feel comfortable with something you’ve done – if your reaction is dismissive, you’re likely to get another reaction from them.

“Often times, partners just want to feel validated.”

Mel Schilling told him: "You keep saying, ‘You’re married. It’s not a permission slip to cross boundaries.”

Paul C Brunson then added: “I think everything you’ve done with Grace, my wife and I have done – the difference is, we’ve been married for 23 years and we have built a level of undeniable trust.

“You went into this marriage saying we should trust each other just because, and Grace wanted you to earn her trust. You started off on a different page. From Grace's perspective, when you cross a boundary, you then take on the role of a bully."

Following the chats, both Grace and Ash accepted responsibility for the downfall of their marriage, and left the experiment single.

Now Grace and Ashley's time on the experiment is over, here's a full recap of their turbulent journey.

What happened on their wedding day?

Although Ashley's nerves seemed to vanish as soon as he set eyes on his bride, Grace didn't seem too impressed with her new husband, proceeding to make endless jokes at the altar, with her friends claiming it was her way of dealing with nerves.

Following the ceremony, Grace broke down in tears to the camera, saying: "I wouldn't say he's my type. I'm feeling no instant spark."

She continued: "I don't know... maybe I did hope there'd be more of an initial spark. Maybe I just hoped it'd be there more. I'm not really sure why I'm being quite as wobbly as I am right now. I can't put my finger on it. I honestly... I just don't know how I feel. I don't want to do this, sorry."

Although the producers attempted to calm her down, she added: "I don't know what to say. It's just a lot. Sorry, I think I'm just in a negative headspace about it. I don't want to do this, sorry. I just... I can't."

Despite her wobble, Grace did later reunite with her new husband for their wedding photoshoot, but things quickly went from bad to worse for the pair when the midwife didn't take too kindly when Ashley told her to smile.

Throughout the night, Grace and Ashley continued to find differences in their personalities and beliefs, and Grace was left in shock to learn Ashley was raised to believe that the man should be the breadwinner in the house.

She said: "God, here we go. It's 2025, Ashley, men don't have to be the money maker and the woman stays home."

Grace's friends also didn't think Ashley was the greatest match, following a conversation where he admitted he isn't a feminist.

However, despite saying "100 per cent no," at first, he later clarified: "Not 100 per cent no, that's not the right thing to say. I would say I do have old school morals and I was raised that the man was the breadwinner and things like that."

Speaking at the end of the day, Grace said: "I'm just really overwhelmed. I just thought I wanted it to be really easy. It's not easy."

After watching the disaster unfold, many fans of the show took to social media to give their opinion, with many thinking Grace was being too hard on her new husband.

One wrote: 'He actually seems like a really genuine man! I hope grace doesn’t waste his time!!', with another adding: 'She comes across SO rude'. A third wrote: 'Omg ,why on earth did Grace go in the program? He behaviour so far is appalling'. (sic)

Another commented: 'Why on earth did they put her with him', with another saying: 'I would love an ashley, call me old fashioned 🤷‍♀️'. (sic)

What happened on their honeymoon?

Grace and Ashley's honeymoon nearly didn't happen, as Grace once again broke down to producers and nearly didn't get on the plane. However, the pair did eventually head off to Thailand, much to the delight of Ashley.

The first few days of their trip continued at a slow pace, with Grace saying: "I'm just a bit concerned that Ashley might be set in his ways and opinions of women and I naively thought it would be more aligned. It's really important to me."

However, towards the end of their trip, Grace started to open up a bit more, revealing she wanted to be more open-minded towards Ashley, and that she wanted the marriage to work. Grace also confessed to Ashley she's not big on personal touch, and that it will take her time to get to that point with him.

Seeing a change in her attitude and behaviour towards him, Ashley was over the moon and planned a cute massage and a trip to an elephant sanctuary.

During their final night of honeymoon, Grace and Ashley expressed their excitement at continuing their journey back in the UK, with Grace even allowing him to plant a kiss on her cheek.
