As the effects of the Coronavirus Pandemic spread far and wide, around the world, people from all professions have been doing their bit to help their local healthcare systems. And, with that in mind, a beauty salon owner in America has donated masks to her local hospital and urged others to follow her lead.
Julie Michaud shared a photo of two bags of face masks on Facebook saying, 'Feeling so emotional right now. I just dropped off a bunch of masks and gloves at the hospital since we won’t be tattooing eyebrows at Prettyology any time soon. (my partner Steve’s idea) The nurse who came out to get them had tears in her eyes and a verbal and physical sense of relief.'
She continued, 'If you have any masks you can donate, please, please do so ASAP. There will be more available by the time we go back to work.
'We have an obligation to protect our sisters and brothers in the front line. They are the heroes trying to save humanity right now. Hospitals need masks more than we do.'
Her post has now had 263K reactions and received praise from around the world, with one person commenting, 'This is such a fantastic gesture thank you hope it gets far a wide will share xx', and another saying, 'Incredible idea. Well well done. Just fantastic ❤'.
Julie is the owner of Boston-based Prettyology which, according to its website has, 'Over 30 years in the business' and has '13 Best of Boston awards'. This news comes just days after medical TV shows Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19 and The Good Doctor revealed they have donated their supplies of gowns and gloves.
In a statement Krista Vernoff, executive producer of ABC's Grey's Anatomy and Station 19, told Good Morning America, "At Grey’s Anatomy, we have a back-stock of gowns and gloves which we are donating as well. We are all overwhelmed with gratitude for our healthcare workers during this incredibly difficult time, and in addition to these donations, we are doing our part to help them by staying home."
