'Victory' singer Cian Ducrot has released his emotional song 'Can't Even Hate You', a song about 'wanting to hate someone after a break-up to alleviate your own pain, but having to accept that you just can’t do it.'

Revealing it's something 'extremely personal', the singer/songwriter told his fans on X: 'My song “can’t even hate you” is out now 🤍 one of my favourite songs I’ve ever written about something extremely personal and hard to talk about, so obviously I wrote a song about it instead! lol. thank you for all the love so far!' (sic)

He also shared the lyric video on YouTube, where grainy footage of the singer in the countryside can be seen, while the lyrics are 'written' over the video.

Speaking about his new song, Cian said: "It’s one of those songs that just finds meaning as you write it. It starts as just an idea and something you relate to and with time you realise what it is you’re writing about and the song grows and becomes more and more about that one thing.

"It makes it an emotional process and also one that can be hard to share because no one will really understand it the way you do and the fear of it being judged when it’s so personal can be scary, but in the end that’s what sharing it is about. For people to connect and love it or hate it but hopefully it helps someone!"

What is 'Can't Even Hate You' about?

Following the release of this song, Cian then took to Instagram where he opened up further about the reasons behind writing his latest song, telling his fans in an emotional video: "Basically I'm putting this song out and it's called 'Can't Even Hate You', and I feel like I should talk about what it's really about.

"I've just been listening to it for the last like half an hour, and it's just been really hitting me as to what this song is really about, but without silver-lining anything, because I want to be open, and real in these moments."

The singer went on to explain how his dad abused him a lot when he was a child and it's something that he's had to deal with throughout his whole life. "This song is about how someone can do the worst thing possible to you, and how they can break you," he explained.

"And it can affect you for the rest of your life and you can be so hurt and damaged by it in so many ways that you don't even realise, and somehow, you still can't hate this person. And I don't know what it is, I don't even know what or why I feel that way."

Some people may find his video hard to watch.

'Can't Even Hate You' is Cian's second song of the year, following 'Here It Is'. 'Here It Is' was a hugely emotional song, which Cian described as 'painful but beautiful'. The song follows a tragic event which has caused a rift in a relationship which is beyond repair.
