Harry Potter's acceptance letter sells for £8,400
The auction took place in London.
Film buffs and collectors alike descended on London yesterday to pick up some one-of-a-kind film memorabilia including props from The Dark Knight Rises, Terminator 2 and The X-Files.
The live auction took place at London's BFI IMAX and was run in partnership with ODEON. The items were provided by Prop Store, one of the world’s leading film and TV memorabilia companies and involved 10 hours of intensive bidding with a number of records being broken.
One notable item that was included was Harry Potter's Hogwarts acceptance letter with the wax seal from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone which sold for £8,400 (pictured above).
The most expensive item was the Hero Batpod Vehicle from The Dark Knight Rises which sold for a massive £312,000 (pictured below).

Other props that also attracted large bids included, Batman’s Batsuit also from The Dark Knight Rises (£192,000), Steven Spielberg’s Clapperboard from Jaws (£84,000) and Mulder and Scully's FBI ID badges from The X-Files which sold for £7,890 and £7,200 respectively.

The auction of these highly sought after props coincided with some special screenings of classic films such as Gladiator, Top Gun and the Christopher Nolan-directed The Dark Knight trilogy put on by the BFI IMAX.
Talking about the event Stephen Lane, Prop Store CEO said, "We delivered the opportunity for film fans and collectors alike to bid on some of the world’s most iconic film and TV items, and secure their own pieces of movie and television history."
Following the success of this year's auction Prop Store have already said they are making plans for next year's and are accepting consignments. Next year will be the third time this live auction has taken place.
