Southampton man charged with sexual assaults and immigration offence
Three incidents involving women in Portswood and Bevois being investigated

A 30-year-old man has been charged with three counts of sexual assault and an immigration offence following incidents in Portswood and Bevois.
Sohail Amiri, of Highfield Lane, Southampton, was arrested following reports of sexual assaults, including an incident that occurred in Upper Shaftesbury Avenue in the early hours of Tuesday (25th November).
Police said a woman was walking along the road just after midnight when a man she did not know allegedly tried to kiss her. She managed to escape after forcing him off and running away.
Amiri has also been charged in relation to two further reports of sexual assault on 23rd September. In these incidents, he is alleged to have made inappropriate comments and advances towards two women in Westwood Road.
Amiri, who has stated he is from Afghanistan, has also been charged under Section 24 of the Immigration Act 1971 for entering the United Kingdom without leave.
He is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates' Court this morning, 29th November.
