Rider killed in e-bike crash in Manchester, two hurt

An e-bike rider has died and two pedestrians are in hospital with serious injuries following a crash in north Manchester.

Police and paramedics were called to Rochdale Road before 22:00GMT on Tuesday night (02 December).

The road was closed for a number of hours, with Greater Manchester Police confirming a male rider died at the scene.

The two pedestrians were rushed to hospital.

In a post on social media, GMP said: "Officers are dealing with a serious RTC on Rochdale Road in north Manchester between a e-bike rider and two pedestrians.

"The male e-bike rider has sadly been pronounced dead at the scene, and the two pedestrians have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"While officers continue with their investigations, there will be significant road closures in place.

"Namely on Rochdale Road, Whitemoss Road and Lionbrow Road.

"Please avoid the area if you can and find an alternative route."

The road has since reopened.
