Police dog Fergie found after Loch Ness escapades
Relief from Police Scotland as they are reunited with the German Shepherd
A missing Police Dog has been reunited with her handler after concerns were raised about her whereabouts.
'Fergie' went missing on Sunday around about 10am following a walk near Loch Ness. The three-and-a-half year-old German Shepherd was spooked by a deer she had encountered.
It wasn't until around 3pm on Monday that she was finally tracked, not far from where she was last seen.
Chief Inspector Gordon Fotheringham, Police Dog Unit Lead for the North, said: “Following searches PD Fergie has been traced and is now back with her handler.
“We are all delighted and we would like to thank everyone who shared and responded to our appeal.”
Earlier on Monday the public were alerted to the missing PD Fergie, but with the warning as a trained police dog, she could could react differently to other canines - given that she can bark loudly and would pursue anyone running to or from her.
However Chief Inspector Fotheringham remained confident that she would finally turn up with Fergie now safe with her handler.
