Nuno Espirito Santo appointed West Ham manager
He's taking over from Graham Potter, who was dismissed after nine months in charge of the Premier League club
West Ham United have appointed former Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo as their new manager.
He replaces Graham Potter, who's been sacked after just nine monthss in charge at the London Stadium.
Nuno Espirito Santo has signed a three year contract, with his first game the Premier League clash against Everton on Monday night.
In a statement a spokesperson for West Ham United said:
“He arrives at London Stadium having put together a hugely impressive coaching career, most recently leading Nottingham Forest to European qualification via a seventh-place Premier League finish and the FA Cup semi-finals last season.
“A multiple league title and cup winner as a player with FC Porto and coach with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad, the 51-year-old is among the most highly respected coaches in the modern game.
"Nuno brings his outstanding coaching ability, tactical acumen and leadership qualities to West Ham United and is looking forward to getting down to work in east London."
Nuno Espirito Santo has already taken his first training session.
In a statement he said:
“I am very pleased to be here and very proud to be representing West Ham United.
“My objective is to work hard to get the very best from the team and ensure that we are as competitive as we possibly can be.
“The work has already started and I am looking forward to the challenge that is ahead.”
