The Ministry of Justice has denied false rumours claiming Southport killer Axel Rudakubana has been attacked in prison.
The claims emerged on social media over the weekend, with a voice note being shared on WhatsApp and X.
A man said he had heard from a friend that 18-year-old Rudakubana had been attacked by two men at Strangeways prison in Manchester.
But an MoJ spokesperson said: "I can confirm that reports of Axel Rudakubana being attacked in prison are inaccurate. He has not been attacked."
Rudakubana was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 52 years for killing six-year-old Bebe King, seven-year-old Elsie dot Stancombe and nine-year-old Alice DaSilva Aguiar at a dance class last July.
