Minehead crash: School headteacher says she feels 'complete devastation'
Laura Mackie from Minehead Middle School has been speaking following a coach crash on Thursday
A school's head teacher says she feels "complete devastation" after one of her pupils was killed in a coach crash near Minehead.
A 10-year-old boy died after the bus slid down an embankment at Cutcombe Hill and overturned on Thursday 17th July 2025.
21 other people were taken to hospital, where nine remain for treatment.
In an interview Laura Mackie from Minehead Middle School said:
"I'm thinking of the student that we lost, their family and friends.
"Thinking of my staff team who are amazing and dedicated - and all of our wonderful students that have been affected and impacted by this.
"It's just been horrific."
Tributes are continuing to be paid and support is being provided by a number of organisations.
Local vicar, the Reverend Philip Butcher, says the church is there for those who need it:
"There's a feeling of tremendous shock in the community.
"I'd describe it as a numbness, a surrealness. People can't believe what's happened.
"At this time it is just about being together, being here for each other."
A fundraising page has also been set up to support those affected by the crash.
The driver of the coach involved was confirmed to be in a stable condition in hospital.
Avon and Somerset Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and more information on what happened.
