Man dies after falling into Liverpool factory silo

A 45-year-old man has died after falling 30ft into a silo at a factory in Speke in Liverpool, police have confirmed.

Emergency services closed off part of Woodend Avenue at around 19:20BST on Monday night (08 September).

Merseyside Police have confirmed an investigation into his death will be carried out by the force and the Health and Safety Executive.

It is understood a rescue team used a rope and access hatch to enter the silo following the man's fall.

His family have been told and the victim has not been named.
