Man dies after entering sea in Ingoldmells to help children

A 60-year old man has died after entering the sea to help two children who appeared to be in distress

A 60-year-old man has sadly died after entering the sea at Ingoldmells in an attempt to help two children who appeared to be in a distressed state.

It's been reported that the man entered the sea just after 4pm yesterday (Sunday 25th May).

He entered the water close to the Promenade, where he got into difficulty and died at the scene.

Lincolnshire Police are sharing their thoughts with the man's family at this difficult time.

A spokesperson said:

"A 60-year-old man has sadly died after entering the water to help two children who appeared to be in distress.

"The man reportedly entered the sea just after 4pm today (25 May) close to the Promenade in Ingoldmells, he got into difficulty and sadly died at the scene.

"Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this very sad time."
