Man charged over south-east London crash after being arrested in Northern Ireland
A woman remains in a life-threatening condition in hospital after she was struck by a car in Lewisham

A man from the Republic of Ireland has been charged in connection with a crash in Lewisham in south-east London, which left a woman fighting for her life.
A 65-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries in a collision in Southend Lane, Bellingham on Halloween evening (Friday 31st October 2025).
Specialist police officers are providing support to her family.
The Met Police have confirmed Michael McLaughlin was arrested on a motorway in Northern Ireland on Friday 7th November 2025.
The 38-year-old from Heath Park, Buncrana (Republic of Ireland), is accused of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a crash.
McLaughlin was escorted to England, where he was interviewed at a south London police station.
He remains in custody and will appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday 10th November 2025).
Officers from the Met Police's Serious Collision Investigative Unit are continuing to investigate what happened.
They remain keen to speak to any potential witnesses who may have information.
