A jury has been sworn in to try a 13-year-old girl who denies murdering a woman who was found stabbed at a house in Northamptonshire.
Marta Bednarczyk, aged 43, was pronounced dead at a property in Wellingborough on Monday March 10 this year after both police and fire crews were called to the address.
The teenager, who cannot be identified because of her age, appeared for a trial at Lincoln Crown Court, sitting at the city's Magistrates' Court, on Monday.
Jurors were told the trial's daily hours will mirror those of a school day during the proceedings, which are expected to last until early December.
A jury panel of six women and six men was sworn in on Monday and was told the case will be opened on Tuesday by prosecutor Samuel Skinner KC.
Addressing the jury before they were sworn in, trial judge Mrs Justice Tipples said: "In this case the defendant is 13 years old and she has been charged with murder.
"Because she is a child, none of us in court are wearing robes and she is not sitting in the dock of the court - she is sitting in the back row."
