Derby County have confirmed the appointment of John Eustace as their new head coach.

The former Rams' midfielder has signed a contract with the club through until 2028 and will take charge immediately, ahead of tomorrows fixture with QPR.

It follows the recent departure of Paul Warne from the Rams.

A statement from Derby County's owner, David Clowes says "I'm excited to welcome John back to Derby County. Fans will remember him for his craft, commitment and intelligence. He was a real leader"

"He helped both Queens Park Rangers and Birmingham City avoid relegation, before taking Birmingham to sixth place prior to his departure. He has repeated that achievement at Blackburn Rovers, leaving behind a team in the play-off places."

"I am thrilled that he shares our belief in the potential of Derby County and that he wants to play a leading role in our plans"

Eustace is joining the side after leaving Blackburn Rovers earlier this morning - after not taking charge of their game against West Brom last night (12/02).

They say they're "disappointed by the his decision to leave at this crucial stage of the season" adding they "understand that the opportunity to move closer to family played a significant role in his choice".

He will be joined by Matt Gardiner (Assistant Head Coach) and Keith Downing (First Team Coach) on the coaching staff.
