Detectives are trying to identify a man in his 20s who died in Liverpool city centre.

He passed away in hospital after being found in Old Hall Street early yesterday morning (Saturday 10th May 2025).

The death is being treated as unexplained.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said:

"At around 4.35am, NWAS reported a man in his 20s being found in the street on Old Hall Street.

"He was taken to hospital where he sadly died a short time later. The man is yet to be identified despite extensive enquiries."

Officers have issued pictures of a witness they want to speak to - and they would also like to hear from anyone else living nearby who has information.

Detective Chief Inspector at Merseyside Police, Chris Saidi, said:

"Our work to identify the man who died continues, and I’d urge the man pictured to come forward.

"I want to make clear that we are treating him as a potential witness, as we believe that he was in company with the man in the area of Old Hall Street earlier in the morning. He may well be able to help us identify the man.

"Likewise, if you recognise this witness or were passing or live nearby and have any information, please let us know.

"We are also working to establish the cause of the man’s death, but at this stage we do not believe there were any suspicious circumstances."
