Horsham teen who planned 'terror week' to impress online extremists jailed for six years
19-year-old Cameron Finnigan led discussions on how to carry out a mass attack and hide a dead body with satanic group 764
A teenager from Horsham who urged online extremists to carry out a week of mass terror attacks has been jailed for six years
Cameron Finnigan, of Denne Park, planned "terror week" to climb the ranks of satanic social media group '764' in March last year.
The 19-year-old, who posted online under the nickname 'Acid' also smashed a car window, strangled his cat and encouraged a girl to end her own life to impress members.
Police investigated his home after claims he had weapons, but instead found his bedroom decorated with satanic flags and swastikas.
Detective Chief Superintendent Claire Finlay, Head of Counter Terrorism Policing South East, said groups like 764 are a real concern:
"These groups are deliberately targeting vulnerable individuals, either threatening or extorting them.
"We need to be aware of what individuals are viewing online, and I just hope this reinforces the message for everyone to be vigilant."
Finlay urged anyone concerned about somebody's online behaviour to contact the anti-terrorism ACT campaign.
She continued: "These types of groups are stretching across the whole of policing.
"That's why we need the public to report it to us, so we can mitigate the threat that they pose."
