A charity fundraising run is taking place this weekend to raise money for the family of a 14 year old boy, who died in a fire in Gateshead last weekend.
The 'Run For Layton' will take place at Hebburn Park to help support the family of Layton Carr.
The teenager passed away following a blaze on Bill Quay on Friday night (2 May).
His body was found by in a Fairfield Industrial Park building, where the fire took place.
The 'Run for Layton' has been organised by Angie Comerford - who runs Hebburn Helps - after her son told her he wanted to do something to help:
"It was absolutely devastating - it hit us all hard. It's had a huge impact for the little ones and not even just the little ones - I think for the parents as well because at any given moment, news like that could happen about anybody's child and it's it's just so devastating.
Angie explains the whole community's been affected:
"What's happened can not be brushed under a carpet and just be forgotten about. This is going to have an impact on the rest of so many lives. It's so, so tragic."
The run will take place in North Marine Park in South Shields at 3.30pm.
Anyone with information in relation to what has happened, should speak to Northumbria Police directly by sending a direct message on social media, or by using the Force’s website.
