Elderly man dies after 'hit and run' near Rotherham

An 81 year-old cyclist has died after a "hit and run" involving a car near Rotherham.

The incident occured shortly after 3pm on Friday on the A57 in Todwick.

Two men, aged 27 and 28, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop on Saturday and have since been released on bail.

A 46-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting offenders and has been released under investigation.

South Yorkshire police stated: "CCTV enquiries have led us to believe that the vehicle travelled in the direction of Killamarsh following the collision.

The vehicle has sustained damage to the front bumper, passenger side headlight and wing mirror.

Anyone who believes they may have seen a car matching the description or know where it may be being stored is asked to get in touch quoting incident number 544 of 4 April 2025."
