Charlie’s Bar in Northern Ireland shared an emotional Christmas advert on Friday with a sentimental festive message that has left viewers in tears.

Taking a leaf out of Lewis Capaldi’s book, the video showcases an elderly gentleman, a dog, and of course a pint of the ‘black stuff.’

Many viewers left comments describing the video as 'better than the John Lewis Christmas advert' – high praise indeed.

The two-minute clip highlights the importance of local pubs for rural communities across Ireland, with the hope that no one feels alone at Christmas.

Posting the video on their Facebook page, Charlie’s Bar wrote:

“Christmas can be such a joyful time for some and painfully hard for others. One things for sure - you’ll always receive a warm welcome when you walk through our doors. We will be open on Christmas Day, so if you are alone this festive season, drop in for a chat.”

After posting the video on Friday, the video has over 569K Facebook views and over 407K TikTok views.

Una Burns, Manager of Charlie's Bar said :

“I feel completely overwhelmed to be honest.

“We’re just a small, local pub and we just wanted to provide a Christmas advert that hopefully resonated with people and for us, it became apparent over the years that Christmas can be a really lonely, tough time for some people.

“We see that more than others as on Christmas morning – when we’re open – there are some people coming in with maybe nowhere else to be and need people to speak to.

“We were not expecting the reaction that it’s received – it’s just blown up, and it’s been so lovely to read the comments underneath the posts as well.”

She added that Charlie’s Bar was “more than just a business, it’s part of our family”.
