Cat dies after being shot in St. Helens
Mac was seen limping near to his home in Eccleston in November
A cat has died after being shot in St. Helens.
Mac, who was just three, was seen limping near to his home in Eccleston in November.
He was taken to the vets, who found a bullet during a scan, and had to be put down following an emergency operation.
Mac’s owners said “Mac was the most loving little cat. He was young and growing in confidence after being rescued with his brother, Claude. He loved trying to catch bugs and watching birds in the garden.
“To the Eccleston community - we believed this was a safe place to live and have a family. If you know any information, or have seen suspicious behaviour, please speak up.”
The RSPCA has now launched an investigation, and are asking anyone with information to get in touch.
RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer (ARO) Lucy Welch, who is investigating the incident, said: “Our hearts go out to Mac’s owner and we are very sorry to hear this has happened.
“It is always very distressing to think that people may be taking pleasure in causing such horrific injuries to defenceless animals.
“Although at the moment we don't know if this attack was accidental or deliberate so we hope an appeal for information will help with our enquiries.
