'It's life-changing': Gogglebox's Amy on her eight-stone weight loss
The TV star has lost a third of her body weight after switching to weight-loss jabs
Gogglebox star Amy Tapper's sharing the story behind her incredible weight loss journey - and how she's having to take on the trolls as a result.
The 26 year old shot to stardom as part of the Tapper family whose witty comments on the week's big TV shows shot them to stardom.
Amy admits she's always struggled with her weight and was regularly tested as child to see why she was unable to lose weight sustainably.
But when she learned about weight loss jabs last year things started to change.
What's behind Amy Tapper's weight loss?
She told Cool FM: "I've now lost eight stone - I'm four pounds away. I started at 147.5kg and I'm now at 98.2."
Amy says in the past the usual mix of diet and exercise worked - but she was only ever to lose three stone at a time, before her body reverted back to its usual size - but that changed when she spoke to medics about moving to a jab.
She said: "It's not just about suppressing your appetite, there's so much more to it. I started, I slowly upped my dose and here I am a year and four months later. I'll never look back.
"It speeds up your metabolism, it breaks down things that your body can't naturally. It's really hard to put into words how to describe it.
"Life is easier. You don't see two flights of stairs and think 'OMG I'm going to be wheezing at the top of it.' Little things that people would never think about - to me they're the biggest changes in the world."
Amy Tapper takes on the trolls
New research suggests 1 in 20 people in the UK are now using weight-loss injections such as Wegovy or Mounjaro.
But judgement remains widespread, as nearly 7 in 10 say they’ve been publicly shamed or received unsolicited comments about their weight.
92% have been told to “eat less or move more”, rising to 95% of women.
Amy's been documenting her journey on Instagram - but that's brought about its own issues: "A lot of comments I got were all about how I 'hid it' from people, posting that I was losing weight and not sharing how and when I did share how people had a problem with that.
"People are constantly saying 'Why are you jabbing, just eat less and move more' well I've been doing that for 18 years, so hand in hand they're working perfectly together.
"I need to be on it for my health, wellbeing, to lose weight. For me it's the only way, and for other people to come on and comment, it's crazy to me."
If you're thinking of trying weight loss jabs, make sure you get advice from your doctor and pharmacist.
