Women's World Cup: NI beat Latvia to make it perfect start to qualifying campaign
Northern Ireland made it two wins from two as they got off to the perfect start in the Women's World Cup qualifying campaign.
Playing for the first time in nine years at the National Stadium at Windsor Park, Kenny Shiels' side beat Latvia 4-0.
On Friday, they saw off Luxembourg by the same scoreline.
But playing in front of 4,000-plus fans last night, they did not have it all their own way with the score 0-0 at half time.
In the second half Louise McDaniel settled the nerves with an early strike with skipper for the evening, Kirsty McGuinness (main pic celebrating goal), who was celebrating her 50th cap, making it 2-0.
Further goals from Marissa Callaghan and Rachel Furness, from the penalty spot, wrapped up all three points.
It will get tougher though for Northern Ireland. Up next are one of the tournament favourites, England.
The two sides meet at Wembley on October 23.
