Antrim star Mark Allen is through to the second round of the Welsh Open.

He beat Ken Doherty 4-1 last night (Monday) to book his place.

Later tonight he will face 16-year-old Iulian Boiko from Kyiv in embattled Ukraine.

The teenager, who is based in Sheffield, took the snooker world by storm in January 2020 when as a 14-year-old he reached the final of the World Snooker Federation Open in Malta.

Meanwhile, defending champion Jordan Brown is out of this year's competition.

The Antrim man lost 4-3 to Mitchell Mann in the opening round yesterday.
