'We have lift-off' - Newry City book place in next season's Premiership
Co Down side beat Carrick Rangers to seal dream win
Newry City will be playing top-flight football next season.
They booked their place in Danske Bank Premiership after beating Carrick Rangers last night 3-1 in the second leg of their promotion/relegation play-off.
That left the aggregate score at 6-3.
What a night for Darren Mullen’s side – clinching their fourth promotion in five seasons.
Mark Hughes, Stephen Hughes and Mark McCabe grabbed the goals to seal the win.
Carrick meanwhile, swap places with Newry in the Championship.
They will be joined by Ballinamallard who were relegated automatically a few weeks ago.
