Ballinamallard are off the bottom of the Danske Bank Premiership table – and their Irish League destiny is now in their hands.

The Mallards beat close rivals for the automatic drop, Carrick Rangers, 2-1.

Shane McGinty and Sean Nobel (pictured) grabbed the goals with Darren Henderson replying for the visitors.

With just two games to go, Harry McConkey’s side are now two points clear.

Carrick have replaced them at the bottom – and with Glentoran and Warrenpoint to play, their fate could be sealed.

The Mallards are still not out of danger – they’re away to Ards next before travelling to the Oval to meet Glentoran in their final game.

But since McConkey (pictured) took over as manager just six games ago, there has been a real winning mentality around Ferney Park.

In the only other game of the night, the Glens beat Dungannon Swifts 4-2.
