Sean O’Neill believes champions Crusaders will come good – after a disappointing start to this season’s Danske Bank Premiership campaign.

But the Crues keeper does admit they are missing the quality of Gavin Whyte, who left in the summer for full-time football with League One side Oxford United.

Speaking on our latest BetMcLean football show (in partnership with NIFL), now available on Cool FM’s Facebook page and as a podcast, O’Neill said there was nothing to worry about and that they will turn a corner.

"This team isn't tired - we've had a bit of a wobble. I think it comes from the pre-season we had,” he said.

“We played two top teams in Europe and we got trounced. We've brought that poor form into the season."

"Trophies aren't handed out early doors. We gained back a huge gap on Coleraine last year. Never say never with this Crusaders team."

O’Neill said players had to step up and fill the void left by Whyte’s departure.

“There are players that now have to step up and go in and make the right side of midfield their own.

“Over the coming weeks I'm guessing you're going to see where Stephen Baxter and squad really are, regarding that."

O’Neill joins new Coleraine boss, Rodney McAree on the show.
