Ballymena forward Adam Lecky has been opening up about the special bond between players at the Showgrounds which has seen the Sky Blues soar to the top of the Danske Bank Premiership.

The 27-year-old was speaking as a guest on Part One of our special Christmas BetMcLean Football Show (in partnership with NIFL) now available to view on Cool FM’s Facebook page (see link below) and to download as a podcast.

He reveals that it is a “privilege” to play for David Jeffrey and his ambitious young side.

“It’s superb – as a player to play in it, it is a privilege – you are just waiting for every game,” he tells us..

“We maybe didn’t think we would be doing so well as we have.

“We had such a difficult start with a number of players coming in. It is always a gamble – you never know how that’s going to go

“But looking back now obviously we have gelled very well – all good lads and all hard working.”

But he has confirmed that boss Jeffrey has banned all talk of title in the changing rooms – despite their position right at the top of the table.

“It is a very modest bunch (at Ballymena) - no-one is getting carried away – it’s early days,” he says.

Also guesting on this week’s show is new Coleraine signing Jamie Glackin who had been a squad player at Crusaders.

Glackin feels the Crues’ style of football did not suit him – and he decided to link up again with Rodney McAree.

The two were together at Dungannon Swifts.
