Cliftonville midfielder Stevie Garrett says they cannot take Loughgall for granted as they bid for a place in local football’s biggest showpiece final.

The Reds take on Dean Smith’s side tomorrow in an Irish Cup semi at the Oval.

Speaking on our latest BetMcLean Football Show – and Irish Cup special – which is now available to view in full on Cool FM’s Facebook page (see below), Garret says they will certainly not underestimate the Championship side.

“It is going to be a tough game,” he said.

“You have seen how Loughgall beat Glenavon in the quarter final – they have also beaten Ards on their way as well.

“We will just take it like any other game and trying to focus on the prize which is the Irish Cup final and trying to get there by any means possible.”

Garrett says he is driven by the disappointment of losing the final in 2013.

He revealed that defeat was the worst moment of the career.

“Given that we had won the league championship, we had won the league cup and it was to try and complete an historic treble,” he said.

“The season was probably just too long for us and our legs went out in extra time and to be fair to Glentoran they beat us well on the day.

“Certainly disappointing – the Irish cup is the one that’s missing certainly in terms of my medal collection.
