Ulster thrashed in Glasgow as PRO14 final bid comes to a sorry end

Ulster's bid for a place in the PRO14 final ended last night (Friday) in emphatic defeat.

Dan McFarland's side lost their semi 50-20 to the Glasgow Warriers .

Ulster went into the game with their strongest possible line-up - with both Jacob Stockdale and Louis Ludik, fit to start.

It was also retiring captain, Rory Best's final game for the Province - and certainly was not the way he had planned to bring the curtain down on such an illustrious career.

But the hosts were in uncompromising mood and dominated for most of the game never really allowing the visitors to build any momentum.

Ulster bagged three tries through Marcell Coetzee, Rob Herring and Michael Lowry but it was not enough to make an impact.

Glasgow now go through to the showpiece final at Celtic Park next Saturday

After the game, Best reflected on his long career with Ulster and said it was disappointing to end it in defeat.

"That realisation that you will never pull on an Ulster jersey again is not a nice feeling," he said.

"Something that you have given to much to but all good things have to come to an end eventually.

"I think Ulster is a really really good place which is where you can hope when you start your career you can leave it off."
