Ireland secured one of their greatest-ever wins early today (Wednesday) after beating England in the T20 World Cup in Australia.

They had gone into the game as clear underdogs and the shock defeat means a huge setback for one of the competition favouries.

Captain Andy Balbirnie's 62 off 47 balls underpinned Ireland's 157 all out in 19.2 overs, although his dismissal was the start of a collapse that saw his side lose their last seven wickets in 24 balls.

But England lurched to 86 for five under heavy cloud cover and, as conditions grew darker, they were still short when the Heavens opened as Ireland won by five runs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.
