Ruthless Ireland dampen Gatland's Wales return in Six Nations opener
Ireland produced a performance worthy of the world's number one side in the Six Nations Championship opener in Cardiff.
A barnstorming start saw Ireland claim tries through Caelan Doris, James Ryan and James Lowe.
12 points were also reeled off from Johnny Sexton as the Irish established a commanding 27-3 lead at the midway point.
Wales did rally in the second period, but Ireland completed the scoring and collected a bonus point courtesy of flanker Josh van der Flier's try.
Next up for Ireland is a mouth-watering prospect of a visit from France which could prove one of the pivotal ties for the 2023 title.
