Jonathan Rea has taken third sport in the first race of the weekend at Donnington.

Alvaro Bautista made it 11 wins in a row in the series.

They now prepare for Sunday's Superpole sprint race and second feature race.

Rea had occupied pole for the race, his first time doing so for over a year. That had raised hopes the 36-year old could pick up a first win of the 2023 series.

The six-time World Superbike champion however had to be content with his 250th podium in the competition.

Toprak Razgatlioglu was second, followed in third by Andrea Locatelli, ahead of Rea.
