Race Day gets under way in the North West 200
Thousands all set for huge date in sporting calendar
The North West 200 – one of the biggest sporting spectacles in Northern Ireland – begins in earnest tonight.
The Superstock, Supersport and Supertwin races all take place.
Practice sessions got under way this morning.
Carrick’s Alastair Seeley is again the big favourite for NW honours.
And the event record holder has already been impressive in the build-up.
The 37-year-old was fastest in the Supersport and Superbike classes and was second in the Superstock’s behind Michael Rutter.
Tens of thousands of bike fans have already descended on Portrush and Portstewart for the event.
Roads are closed until 3pm today and then from 5 to 9pm for the races.
The main day is on Saturday when there will be five races.
