Dan McFarland has expressed his delight and finally taking up his role as new Ulster coach.

And, speaking to Ulster Rugby TV, said he simply cannot wait to get started.

“It is brilliant to be there,” he said.

“Seeing the guys out on the pitch and not being able to be there is a difficult situation because ultimately I love coaching - but to be here now is terrific.”

Earlier this week, the former Scotland assistant was released early from his SRU contract.

Setting out his ambitions and vision for Ulster, he said: “This is a province with a hugely successful legacy.

“I’d like this generation of players this generation of support staff to be able to write their own successful part in that legacy

“But at the moment it is definitely one step at a time – it is a time of significant change.”
