Banbridge rower Philip Doyle secured another medal for Team Ireland at the Paris Olympics this morning, while Belfast's Rebecca Shorten did likewise for Team GB.

Alongside partner Daire Lynch, the pair took bronze in the Men's Double Sculls Final, coming in behind gold medallists Romania and second-placed the Netherlands.

Doyle and Lynch came home in a time of 6.15.17 for the 2000 metre race, with the winners just over two seconds quicker in 6.12.58 and Netherlands taking silver in 6.13.92. The Irish duo were almost two seconds clear of fourth-placed USA.

In a nip and tuck Women's Fours, Shorten led her team in as favourties to take gold. However, they were pipped to the finish line by the Netherlands by 0.18 seconds.

Shorten, dictating the pace in the stroke seat, led her team of Sam Redgrave, Esme Booth and Helen Glover and over the final 300 metres, they made a move to catch the Dutch. But, it proved just a little bit too little, too late as they were pipped to the post.

Elsewhere, Rory McIlroy is out on the course for Team Ireland in the first round of the Men's Strokeplay Golf, while the Ireland Men's Hockey team take on Argentina in their must-win penultimate pool match from 12.15.

Prior to that, Cookstown's David Ames captains the Team GB Hockey side as they take on hosts France.
