Northern Ireland’s Group C campaign ended in defeat last night in Norway.

Michael O’Neill’s side who had already qualified for the World Cup finals play-offs courtesy of Scotland’s earlier slip-up in Slovenia, lost to an outlandish Chris Brunt own goal in Oslo.

They now have to wait and see if they will be seeded in the play-off draw.

Northern Ireland squandered a number of half chances but in truth never looked like finding the back of the net.

Significantly, none of the players on yellow cards were booked which means they are all available for the play-offs.
