Belfast United are the new Northern Ireland League Futsal champions.

They beat the Trinity Squirrels 8-6 yesterday in the final at the Lisburn Omniplex.

United now get the chance to represent the province at the forthcoming UEFA Futsal Cup tournament in Denmark.

They go into the preliminary round draw against teams from Poland, Denmark and Greece.

Among the goalscorers were Ciaran Donaghy and Irish League footballer Guillaume Keke.

Donaghy said: “It was nerve-wracking but we’re delighted.

“We didn’t get off to the best start but we just kept plugging away.

“But we are under no illusions about how difficult it’s going to be in Denmark.”
