Motorcyling: Racing in Northern Ireland back ON
It comes as an insurance deal is agreed
All motorcycling racing in Northern Ireland will now take place in 2023 - having initially been cancelled over a rise in insurance costs.
It means the world-famous North West 200 road race, scheduled for May, which had been at risk of disappearing for this year at least, is now very much back on the calendar.
It comes as the Motor Cycle Union of Ireland Ulster Centre announced they've accepted a lower quote with an insurance company.
The deal will allow road racing, short circuits and trials take place in Northern Ireland this year.
The North West will go ahead from May 7th to 13th, while it's expected that the Armoy and Cookstown 100 road races will also go ahead.
John Dillon, chairman of the MCUI UC, heaped praise on those who organised and contributed to the ÂŁ90,000 that has been raised via a crowdfunding page.
"The figure currently raised combined with the new insurance quote has now made this possible.
"Thanks to all the efforts of those concerned, the MCUI UC, promoting clubs and members are extremely grateful and humbled by everyone's generosity.
"With the start of our racing season now just around the corner, I would ask that the racing community continues to support our events and make 2023 one to remember."
