Rory McIlroy has won the Dubai Desert Classic for a record fourth time.

The Holywood star finished the DP World Tour event on 14-under par, a shot clear of Poland's Adrian Meronk.

And he did it the hard way.

McIlroy was 10-shots behind the leaders coming into the weekend but produced two impressive rounds to lift the trophy.

Speaking to Sky Sports news afterwards news, he said "It is really cool - there wasn't a ton of fireworks just because the course was so difficult but I held on as best as I could and thankfully no-one around the top of the leaderboard made much of a run,"

Elsewhere, Tom McKibbin finished the tournament in 14th place - eight shots behind McIlroy.
