Rory McIlroy was returning to PGA action today (Thursday) after his top five finish at the Olympics.

The Holywood superstar is bidding to win the FedEx Cup title for a fourth time as he prepared to tee off at the St Jude Championship in Memphis.

It is the first of three tournaments where McIlroy has the chance to bag the overall FedEx Cup prize.

He has won twice on the PGA Tour this season but missed good chances to end his wait for another major title.

He tees off almost 3, 500 points behind Scottie Scheffler who tops the standings.

"I've won a couple of times and I've had an opportunity to win a few more times than that and haven't been able to get over the line," he said. "So I would have liked to have added a couple more to that win column.

"But as I say there are still three tournaments left to turn an ok season into a very good one."
