Irish League legend Marty Quinn has ruled out ‘doing a Ronnie McFall’ and returning to management.

Quinn led Cliftonville to an Irish League title and guided Coleraine to an Irish Cup win – he also had successes as a player – but he says he has not been tempted to go back.

Speaking on our latest BetMcLean Football Show, which is now available on Cool FM’s Facebook page (see link below), he said:

“Irish league management is a very, very demanding job nowadays.

“It's 24/7. You have to arrange your whole life around the football season. These are demands I probably don't need any more at this time of my life.

“I have thought about it long and hard over the years but no, I think I’ve put my managerial career to bed now.”

Quinn also talks about his spells at former clubs and says he retains a lot of affection both for Coleraine and Cliftonville.

But he says his time at Solitude was special.

“The memories of Cliftonville, of winning it, of everything about it, the cameraderie, the team spirit - that's what won the league for us,” he told us.

“We were a 'roll the sleeves up' type of team, probably like myself in my playing day."

Also on this week’s show is Jim Magilton, currently a director with the IFA.

Magilton has had a successful career both as player and manager – and he has played 52 times for Northern Ireland.
