Declan Devine has left his role as Derry City manager after a poor start to their League of Ireland season.

They sit bottom of the table, winless after six games, having picked up just 2 points.

In a brief statement, the club said: "Derry City FC and Declan Devine have parted company by mutual consent.

The Board wish to thank Declan for his service to the Club and wish him well for the future."

This sacking ends his second spell with his hometown club in the same fashion as the first, with Devine's dismissal.

He first joined in 2012, guiding them to the FAI Cup, but his second campaign didn't build on this success, and he was let go in 2013.

Devine was convinced to return in 2018 and secured Derry's spot in the Europa League, but last season they came dangerously close to relegation.

After just 6 games, the board have decided they need to make a change to keep the club in the top tier.
