Lowry signed a two year deal with the Bannsiders and marks Oran Kearney’s first piece of business in the summer transfer window.

The 31 year-old is set to rekindle his relationship with the Bannsiders boss as the duo have spent time at Coleraine and Limavady United in years gone by.

Having previously captained the Stripes, Lowry left the club in 2014 to join Linfield where he has had a wealth of success, adding Danske Bank Premiership, Irish Cup and Country Antrim Shield medals to his collection.

Lowry has made 170 appearances for Coleraine and insists he is eager for more success in his second spell with the North West club.

“I’m delighted to be back at Coleraine I had options to stay at Linfield and offers from other clubs but I want to be a part of what is happening at Coleraine.”

“The club now is a different animal from when I left they’ve made massive progress and won silverware and are building nicely here so hopefully I can add something to that.”

Commenting on his latest acquisition, manager Oran Kearney said, “It was a no brainer of a signing for me, when he left the club before we didn’t want him to go.”

“I’ve worked with him (Lowry) in the past and I know what he gives and I think he’s easily developed into one of the best midfielders in the league.”

“For me he’s always looked after himself and been in good shape but I feel that his football brain has developed immensely over the last ten years.”

Lowry is expected to join up with his team mates in the next few weeks as pre-season preparations get underway before the Bannsiders prepare for their Europa League qualifier in July.
