Linfield completely outclassed their rivals Glentoran as they blew them away in front a huge crowd at Windsor Park in this year's Boxing Day Derby.

Jimmy Callacher, Jordan Stewart, Joel Cooper and Andy Waterworth were the goalscorers in a day of dominance for the Blues, with the visitors second best for virtually the entire game.

The home side scored the opener after 16 minutes when Kirk Millar whipped in a free kick from wide on the left, close to the touchline. The ball evaded everyone, eventually dropping into the path of an unmarked Callacher, who stabbed it into the net from close range.

Millar came close with a 30th minute volley that crept across the face of goal barely a yard from the line, and he then flicked a header wide from Niall Quinn's cross 90 seconds later.

A few minutes before half time, Glens stopper Elliott Morris spilled Cooper's effort from 20 yards, with the ball almost dropping to the feet of Waterworth before the keeper recovered. The final action of the opening period then saw the Blues striker glance a header against the post after Quinn's delivery from the right.

Glentoran brought on Curtis Allen in place of Dylan Davidson at the break as they tried to find a creative spark, and the striker soon went close with a header shortly after coming on. James Ferrin then turned and shot straight at Roy Carroll, as the Glens showed more attacking intent in 10 minutes than they had in the entire first half.

However, the Blues were always the more dangerous side, and deservedly extended their lead with 66 minutes played. David Healy's side broke from a corner through Jordan Stewart, who slipped Cooper away down the left. The winger drove into the Glentoran box before playing the ball square to Stewart for a tap-in to round off a swift, length of the pitch counter attack.

Barely 2 minutes later, their advantage grew even further with the most routine of set-piece goals. Quinn whipped it in from the right and Cooper was totally unmarked, and didn't even need to jump, as he sidefooted a volley into the net from close range.

Glentoran's miserable afternoon continued with Waterworth grabbing Linfield's 4th, as he collected substitute Andy Mitchell's pass before hammering the ball into the net with a low drive from inside the box.

The Glens were forced the play out the final minutes of the game with 10 men after Robbie McDaid was shown a straight red card for kicking out at Stewart, and were lucky not to be 5 goals down as Linfield sub Michael O'Connor had a late goal ruled out for offside.
