Niall Currie is the new manager of struggling Irish Premiership outfit, Portadown.

He steps down as boss of Championship side Dundela to succeed Paul Doolin who stepped down earlier this week.

Currie who is Portadown born and bred - and still lives in the town - takes over a side languishing at the foot of the table with just one point.

It's the 50-year-old's second spell in charge - his first stint was between 2016 and 2018.

Speaking on the club's website, Currie said: "I’m delighted to be back at the club, leaving Dundela was a massively hard thing to do with where we have the club now, but for me, it unfinished with my hometown club and I will do everything I can to keep this club in the Premier League."

He takes with him a backroom team of Clifford Adams and John McAllister who have worked with him at both Carrick Rangers and Dundela.
