Linfield are off and running in the defence of their Irish Premiership title.

They beat Portadown 4-0 in the season opener at Windsor Park yesterday (Sunday) afternoon.

Captain Kirk Millar put the Blues into the lead with Ethan Devine, Eetu Vertainen and Andrew Clarke completing the scoring.

Meanwhile, Crusaders (below) had the biggest win of the opening day - they hammered Dungannon Swifts 5-1 with Coleraine beating Cliftonville 3-1.

Elsewhere, Carrick Rangers beat newly-promoted Newry City 2-1 while Ballymena and Glenavon fought out a 2-2 draw.

On Friday night Larne drew 0-0 with Glentoran.
