David Healy is vowing to make “every cup” competition a priority this season as his Linfield side begin their defence of the County Antrim Shield.

The Blues take on Ballyclare Comrades at Dixon Park tonight – hoping to extend their record-breaking exploits in the competition.

Last year’s 3-1 win over Crusaders in the final was the 44th time Linfield have lifted the trophy.

Healy is taking nothing for granted – with the Comrades riding high in the Championship – but he is determined to emerge victorious.

“It is certainly a game and a competition that we want to progress in,” he said.

“We are the holders of it so we want to give ourselves as many opportunities to progress in every cup.”

Healy will also make full use of his squad for the Shield and that could mean a rare start for centre-back Jimmy Callacher.

The game is one of a number of Danske Bank Premiership, Bluefin Sport Championship Shield ties taking place later.

Elsewhere, Crusaders face Donegal Celtic while Ballymena play Harland and Wolff Welders.

Ards are away to Larne while Carrick entertains PSNI and Cliftonville meet Knockbreda

at solitude.

Finally, Glentoran take on Crumlin Star at the Oval.

All of tonight's games kick off at 7.45.
