Cliftonville boss Barry Gray has issued a ‘hands-off’ message to clubs interested in signing his star striker Joe Gormley in the January transfer window.

Speaking on the first Cool FM Facebook Football Show of 2018, Gray says Gormley (28) who has already grabbed 12 league goals this season, is simply not for sale.

“I've no plans on moving any other players out at the minute,” he told us.

“Joe Gormley will be at Cliftonville as long as I'm manager there.

“There's no pressure - from the club or the manager - with looking to move Joe on.

“Joe doesn't want to leave, I don't want him to leave. Therefore it's nice and simple, he won't be going anywhere.”

But one player who might be heading to Solitude is Linfield’s Aaron Burns.

He’s out of contract at the end of the season and the Blues are not renewing.

Gray believes he could be a good fit for the Reds.

“I don't think there's any top quality club that wouldn't be interested in speaking with Aaron,” he said.

“His record speaks for itself. He's been a top pro for Linfield, and a top pro for the league. The top five sides will be looking to have a discussion with him.

“I wouldn't distance myself from that.”

Gray also talks about his side’s chances of winning the title and of his ambitions in Europe.

Also on this week’s show is former Irish League player and manager Darren Murphy, now an Elite Performance coach with the IFA.
